Apple is working on a phone with a transparent display

Apple has been granted a patent on a transparent display for electronic devices like smartphones, tablets, and computer monitors.

The display allows for overlaying of images over real world viewable objects, as well as a visible window to be present on an otherwise opaque display screen.

An electronic device with a transparent display also includes a housing with opaque frame which surrounds the display and electronic components are arranged behind the opaque frame, such that the electronic components are not visible by a user viewing the display.

This is how a transparent display looks like:

The patent credits Aleksandar Pance as the sole inventor for this transparent display. Aleksandar Pance was also the main inventor behind the controversial Apple Stylus. Aleksandar Pance has several other patents to his credit. They primarily relate to input devices like touchpad, acoustic input, and capacitive sensing.
